Drummer Lorca Hart has been at the forefront of the West Coast jazz scene for many years, most recently in the San Francisco Bay area. He has performed or recorded with a veritable who’s who of the premier players on the West Coast – Bobby Hutcherson, Ralph Moore, Carmen Lundy, Freddie Hubbard, Stanley Jordan, Hugh Masekela, and Azar Lawrence to name a few.
The Lorca Hart Trio, while rooted in the straight-ahead jazz tradition, forges ahead by also exploring more contemporary songs, sounds, and structures as exemplified on the trio’s recording “Recollections”.
In addition to Hart on drums, the trio features a couple of the most sought after players on the West Coast scene – pianist Josh Nelson and bassist Michael Glynn.
Josh Nelson maintains an active and creative schedule as a jazz pianist, composer, teacher, and recording artist. His performance credits include some of the most respected names in jazz, including Natalie Cole, Anthony Wilson, Jeff Hamilton, Benny Golson, Sheila Jordan, John Clayton, Matt Wilson, Sara Gazarek, Joe Chambers, Kurt Elling, John Pizzarelli, Lewis Nash, and Peter Erskine.
In addition to performing with countless local musicians throughout the Pacific Northwest, California, and New Mexico, Seattle-based Michael Glynn has performed with jazz legends including Bud Shank, Jon Hendricks, Dave Grusin, Geoffrey Keezer, Eric Alexander, David Hazeltine, Benny Green, Gary Smulyan, William Parker, Kevin Hays, and Aaron Parks. In addition to his jazz work, Michael performs in a variety of other genres, including classical, opera, calypso and Arabic music.
