Josh Krushel first began playing piano at age 6, studying classically until he discovered his love for jazz in 2015. Studying jazz and Contemporary Classical Composition privately while playing in various ensembles across Calgary including the JazzYYC Youth Lab Band, Calgary Stampede Showband and the Calgary Youth Orchestra. He is currently continuing his studies pursuing a performance degree in Jazz Studies at MacEwan University, where he has played with both the MacEwan University Big Band and University Jazz Combo. He has performed with various ensembles in various venues in both Calgary and Edmonton, including The Jack Singer and Winspear concert-halls, the Trifo Theate, Blues on Whyte, Festival place Theater, Café Koi and Café Kawa.

In the spirit of our incredible collective effort to flatten the curve, your Yardbird Suite, Edmonton’s premiere jazz venue since 1957, is presenting a series of live online performances for the Yardbird Suite Virtual Series.

We broadcast live from the Yardbird Suite. There are no audiences other than the performers and audio technician who are physically distant, do not share the same equipment, nor come into contact with each other. Every effort has been made to comply with AHS safety guidelines.

Curated by Edmonton musician Stephanie Urquhart, the all-Edmonton lineup features a variety of solos, duets, and instruments. Performances will run Fridays & Saturdays 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

If you missed some of broadcasts, or want to watch again, please visit our Youtube page.

The Yardbird Suite Virtual Series is made possible due to the generous support of the Edmonton Arts Council and the Edmonton Community Foundation.
